The Piaget Polo FortyFive Chronograph houses Calibre 880P, a mechanical self-winding movement with vertical clutch. In addition to the chronograph and its flyback function, this movement drives the hours, minutes, small seconds, date display and a 24-hour time-zone indication. Thanks to its twin barrels, its power reserve lasts a full 50 hours with the chronograph in operation.

The case measuring 45 mm in titanium - as its name implies - is water-resistant to 100 metres. The latest Piaget Polo FortyFive, like the previous 2009 version, is distinguished by a daring combination of grade 5 titanium, vulcanised rubber and steel, while the transparent case-back enables one to admire the finishing of its mechanical movement designed, developed and produced in-house, like all mechanical movements equipping Piaget watches.

The new Piaget Polo FortyFive chronograph with openworked dial carries within it the full DNA of the original FortyFive model. This timepiece exuding a sporty and contemporary spirit is an aesthetic reinterpretation of the Piaget Polo watch created in 1979. It features the same contrasting polished and satin-brushed finishes, along with seamless integration of the bracelet into the case, bracelet gadroons subtly echoing those on the case, an harmoniously curved case middle guaranteeing remarkable comfort on the wrist, and the iconic trapeze-shaped appliques.

The finishing of its movement is entirely in harmony with the prestigious codes of fine watchmaking: bevelled bridges with hand-drawn sides and surfaces adorned with circular Côtes de Genève, a circular-grained mainplate, blued screws, a balance with adjustment screws and a black PVD-coated oscillating weight engraved with the Piaget coat-of-arms.

In addition to the contrasts between light-coloured metal and black rubber, polished steel and satin-brushed titanium, the new Piaget Polo FortyFive Chronograph with its openworked dial is endowed with a technical touch thanks to its dial featuring multiple openings providing a view of the mechanism with the black PVD-treated circular- grained mainplate and the date disc. The numerals, hour-markers and parts are entwined in a multidimensional ensemble in which every effort has been made to maintain excellent readability of the information. The presence of bright red accents - hands, transfers, hour-markers - stands out particularly well against the openworked dial with its black and metallic shades. Visibility in the dark is ensured by the hour-markers coated with a luminescent material. The model exudes a resolutely technical and sporting aura imbued with understated and virile elegance. Issued in limited series of 500, the new Piaget Polo FortyFive Chronograph is available on a rubber strap fitted with a steel folding clasp enabling summer/winter adjustment.

Knowing the concentration (ppm) of Ca2+ from my calibration curve, how can I find the weight percent of Ca2+, knowing the amount of unknown I used in the beginning?

Reading your assay result in "ppm" (parts per million) means, the concentration is 1/10,000 times "%" (parts per hundred). In weight units it is: 1 g/100 g = 10,000 mg/kg (ppm).

So you will have to multiply your ppm reading from the calibration curve by a factor of 1/10,000 first. after that you will have to take into consideration the dilution you made when you prepared the measuring solution and you have to multiply the result by the dilution factor.

Typical example:

You weight 2.734 g of your unknown substance into a 1000 mL volumetric flask, homogenize and fill to the mark. After filtration you take an aliquot of 0.200 mL for your calibrated assay and you read 72 ppm Ca²⁺.

Calculation:

If your calibration was done in terms of mg/kg (ppm) you will have to consider the density of the solution to convert it to volumetric concentration (mg/l) because we only know that we filled up exactly to 1000 mL = 1.000 L. Lets say the density D = 1.014 kg/l.

c = 72 mg/kg = 72 mg/kg * 1.014 kg/L = 73.008 mg/L

The concentration is the same in the total solution and in the aliquot taken for the assay. It's a concentration term, not a weight or a mass.
So we have a total mass of Ca²⁺ = 73.008 mg (in a total of 1 L). And all of it resuts from 2.734 g of the unknown. So Ca²⁺concentration in the unknown is 73.008 mg/2.734 g = 26.704 mg/g.

26.704 mg/g = 2670.4 mg/100 g = 2.6704 g/100 g = 2.6704 % by weight.
