plz let me know why in case of full wave rectifier centertapped transformer is necessary for full wave?

rectified output while in case of full wave bridge rectifier there is no need of centertapped (means Ac power lines can be directly used for it ).plz explain why it is so!

When using only 2 diodes to create a full wave rectifier a centre tapped transformer is required see link

During positive half of sine wave current flows through diode 1 then the load and back to transformer through centre tapping

During negative half cycle current flows through diode 2 then the load and back to transformer through centre tapping

The disadvantage is that only half of the transformer secondary winding is used for each half cycle
When using a 4 diode bridge configuration the full secondary winding is used and no centre tapping is required.
