Back in the 30's was there a coffee maker made of glass, round and shaped like a lab flask? water was heated?
to a rolling boil and another shaped glass piece that held the coffee grounds was inserted above to let the steam brew the coffee and drop back down into the bottom glass, That must have been some strong brew! A lot better than the 'scared water" we get nowadays!
