I'd like to hear back from any specialised surgeons, or residents, interns, nurses, etc. that actually know how the system works, not punks saying its impossible to get into med school without well connected parents, since thats a load of bull****. anyway, thanks to the people that'll take the time to help me out by just answering as many of these questions as they can for any given surgical specialty.
1. How steady do your hands have to be for that particular specialty?
2. How long does it take to become one?
3. How much "you" time do you have a week (and vacations if any)?
4. What is the average salary for that specialty?
5. How much regarding research and innovation are related to that specialty (ergo, does it get boring)?
6. Is it hard to get a job with that specialty?
7. How stressful is it in comparison to other specialties?
Once again, unless u have true answers to the questions above or useful advice, please dont answer.
1)You need to focus your energy. There are tremendous differences b/t ENT, General, Ophthalmology, plastics, etc. What's true for vascular is not true for trauma or ophtho.
2)including medical school 9-13 years.
3)"you time"? Maybe you shouldnt be a doctor. Try PA.
4)Once again, depends on specialty.... 200K-500K
5)Things are always changing. Need to adapt
6)The jobs are there. You just need to finish the training
