Nikon Launches South India's First Exclusive D-SLR Zone
Nikon India, the 100% subsidiary of the imaging industry leader - Nikon Corporation launched an exclusive Nikon professional D-SLR camera zone for the consumers at Foto Best Pvt. Ltd, 111/1, 112/1, Dickensen Road Bangalore, Karnataka. The store was inaugurated by Mr. Kimito Uemura General Manager Marketing Nikon Hong Kong in presence of Mr. Hidehiko Tanaka Managing Director Nikon India.
As part of its aggressive expansion plans in India, Nikon launches its exclusive D-SLR zone where the entire range of D-SLR cameras, NIKKOR lenses and an elaborate COOLPIX range of compact cameras would be on display. This is the first such zone that Nikon has opened in Southern India in addition to two zones in Mumbai and Delhi. Going forward Nikon aims to open 25 similar outlets across India by the end of this financial year.
Mr. Hidehiko Tanaka, Managing Director, Nikon India said " Launch of Nikon D-SLR zone in Bangalore is a major step towards not only strengthening our brand but also promoting photography culture in a big way, specially in the southern markets. Through this we hope to reach out to the customers and bring to them the Nikon's 70 years of expertise in professional cameras in an accessible form. We want to empower our consumers by means of providing technical know how from experts and the opportunity to touch and feel the cameras so that they can make the right buying decision. At the Nikon's exclusive zone, consumers, both professional and amateurs get to touch, feel and experience the Digital SLR Cameras with combination of lenses and other accessories providing expert guidance, technical know how all under one roof. Most importantly, Bangalore photography lovers can now obtain first hand information on entire range of products and make an informed choice. Nikon exclusive D-SLR zone is an attempt to provide customers with an interactive and informative shopping experience.
"The Southern market contributes around 28% of the overall sales of Nikon in India, out of which Karnataka alone contributes 9%. Hyderabad contributes 7% while Tamil Nadu, Kerela & rest of Andra Pradesh combined contribute around 12%" He added.
Presently, Nikon is targeting 800 retail outlets for in store branding along with the plans to hire 200 in store promoters in the current financial year to further improve the buying experience.
Nikon India distributes markets and services the complete range of Nikon imaging products, including its Nikon D-SLR as well as its compact camera, the Nikon COOLPIX and a range of NIKKOR lenses and service and repair of Industrial products. These include microscopes and technical measuring instruments.
January 2009 saw the launch of Nikon's flagship D3X professional Camera with resolution as high as 24.5 megapixels which can be used for very high level photography followed with the introduction of eight COOLPIX compact cameras in April 2009. In May Nikon launched D5000 that is a 12.3 mega pixel camera which not only captures photos and high-def movies, but also sports a unique Vari angle LCD monitor. This is the world's first D-SLR camera with a 450 degree rotating screen.
With offices in Mumbai, Kolkata and another one to be opened in the southern region, Nikon is strengthening its distribution network all across India. What would you recommend for an inexpensive microscope that I could connect my Nikon dSLR to?
I am planning on doing photographic arts using microscopic elements as subjects.
Are you doing the project as part of a school or degree course? If so you may be able to get hold of some very nice microscopes (especially if you're at a university with a science faculty) with camera attachments. I say this because without a specialist microscope (something that may cost £100,000) you would have to rely on the technique of digiscoping (sticking your camera lens up against the eyepiece) which is somewhat challenging to get right, and the quality can often be questionable.
My point is if you have the resources make use of them. Secondly I'd also like to ask you what you are trying to photograph, because you will use different types of microscope for different things.
