Optical illusion trouble,?

I I have twenty one hundred vision in my right eye and twenty sixty in the left. When I look through a certan aquarium in our living room I see a multi colored spot when looking with my right eye and this illusion dissapears when I open both eyes. Why does this happen?

An optometrist should answer this.

I'll go ahead and try to explain this, but am not sure this is the right 'answer'.

If you take light coming from far away, and take those light rays and pass them through a lens or lens system, the light will become focused at a point. The distance from the lens to that focal point is related to how 'strong' the lens is or how much it bends the light. If it bends it a LOT, it's a strong lens.

The light will focus a meter away if it's a +1.00 lens. A half meter away if it's a +2.00 lens. Third of a meter...+3.00 etc.

BUT

light isn't just white. It has all those colors in it. And the colors are slightly different wave lengths moving through the spectrum of light as seen in a rainbow. The longer wavelengths don't bend as much as the shorter wavelengths (might have that backwards) so that there's a focus problem at the focal point of that lens. This difference in focal points for different colors is called chromatic aberration. There are other aberrations such as spherical aberration and loads of others.

Sounds like you are somehow forming a lens system along with the fish tank glass/water interface that separates light into different colors which you are able to see in that eye.

That's what it 'sounds' like....
