Help! I don't know what to do with my life?!?
Here's my situation: I have a cum. gpa of 2.7, my science gpa overall at this point is below a 2.0 (but close), senior status credit-wise, and no set major. I originally had plans to go for pharmacy but seeing how I'm doing, it's nearly impossible! I then started to venture out to dentistry, physician assistant, physical therapy, optometry, etc. They're all just as competitive! I don't know what to do at this point. I really really want to work in the medical field. The problem is, I do so badly on exams (hence why my grades are so ...). I don't know what else I can do. Should I just go until there's no more rock bottom to hit or hope for a better grades? Or just graduate undergrad and hope for the best? I really really want to become a pharmacist but... it's just so damn competitive! I'm really scared of disappointing my family and friends :'( Does anyone know of any prof school that would take someone like me? probably not... :'(
So you know what you want to do, and you know what your problem is, you do badly on exams. Now you need to understand why you do badly on exams. Do you take good notes? Do you read your text book? Do you know the material? If a professor emphasizes something or repeats it, it will probably be on the test. Sometimes they will even tell you to remember a point they make. Are you studying adequately for exams and spending enough time? Are you getting enough sleep before the exams or partying? Do you know how to study, many people don't learn that in high school. You can look in book stores for guides giving you information about the best ways to study for a test and tips for doing well on tests.
Or do you have test anxiety? Do you get nervous and go blank? It's not uncommon, but if you know the material and just take one question at a time, skipping the ones you don't know and going back to them if you have time, you should be able to deal with that. In a multiple choice question usually the first answer you pick is the correct one. There should be a counseling center at your school where you can get help. They should be able to help you find your problem and your options. You can also ask your professors how you can improve.
