When people go beyond the recommended limits of alcohol intake, they can get alcoholic fatty liver disease, hepatitis, or cirrhosis. These are three kinds of unhealthy liver conditions. FLD usually does not have signs and symptoms. However, patients may experience loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, and fever.

The biopsy can reveal any liver scarring caused by cirrhosis or other signs of alcoholic hepatitis.
How are patients with alcoholic FLD treated?
First of all, patients should completely stop drinking alcohol. Since alcohol causes this disease, it is only logical to stop taking it in order to reverse the condition. Otherwise, FLD can develop into worse conditions.
Second, patients can consult dietitians to provide them with a diet plan that can guide them on how to have a healthy diet.
What are other effects of too much alcohol?
Aside from FLD, heavy alcohol drinkers can develop stomach disorders, pancreatitis, muscle and heart disease, sexual problems such as impotence, and high blood pressure.
Most of the time, alcoholic fatty liver disease will reverse if one stops drinking too much alcohol. However, there are also cases when this disease progresses and develops into hepatitis.
