How To Integrate An LED, LCD Or Plasma Screen Into A Pop Up Stand
With thousands of systems sold annually, pop up stands are by far the most popular type of portable display stand on the market.
Pop up stands are lightweight frameworks, typically constructed from aluminium tubing that can be collapsed for transport and storage. Most customers brand pop up displays by 'skinning' them with a series of rollable panels that are adhered to the structure by means of a magnetic tape.
Although in itself a pop up stand will create an eyecatching backwall display for exhibition or retail purposes, the effect can be enhanced further with the addition of a screen in the format of an LED, LCD or Plasma display.
There are three systems available that will allow the integration of an AV screen onto a pop up display and these systems are outlined as follows:-
1. The EXPUSMK2 bracket from UK manufacturer, Ultima is designed to accommodate a screen with a maximum size of 21". The fitting comprises of a single aluminium bar that fit vertically over one box section of the pop up stand frame. Currently, this bracket is designed to fit only pop up stands manufactured by Ultima.
2. The Expand monitor stand is a Swedish designed, free standing monitor mount that can also be integrated with a pop up stand. The Expand mount is positioned behind the skin on the pop up display and a small aperture panel cut through the printed material. A standard VESA mount enables a screen with a span of up to 32" to be hung directly onto the mount in-front of the graphic skin.
3. For larger screens, the DEXS style pop up display stand monitor mount is available from Printdesigns. Capable up supporting a screen up to 60" wide, the system is built from extruded aluminium and is assembled with a multi-tool in around 15 minutes. The skin of the pop up display must be cut-out at approprate points to allow the monitor bracket to interface with the stand and cutting templates are available.
The ability to mount such an AV display onto pop up stands allows exhibitors to engage more effectively with customers by using interactive presentations and even new 3D effects.
With many businesses now caught in a battle to attract maximum attention whilst at trade shows, the implementation of 3D images into a moving display by mounting a compatible screen onto a pop up stand is becoming a realistic option for many exhibitors.

If the shoot is to be at your house and you can screw 2 hooks, eye hooks, into the ceiling, do it this way...
2 eye hooks or eye screws of 1/4 inch dia metal. and a length of iron pipe. Screw the eye screws into the ceiling as far apart as your back drop material is wide and slide the iron pipe thru the eye bolts or just up and over the hooks, which ever you use, and there ya go. Instant backdrop support.
A cloths line approach would also work with a tight line between 2 solid ends.
Outside..? Ever set up a tent..? 2 up rights that are tied to stakes in the ground then 2 more left and right to keep the polls up right. Just like a pup tent.. The pipe is now supported by the up rights and your back drop hangs from the cross piece (the pipe).
If you have time, and this is still quicker than mail order.. 2 five gallon buckets, 2 long up rights and cement. The cement sets quick and you can uses them in a matter of hours. Some people even use old brake drums and weld the up rights to the old drums.
All ya gotta do is think what is needed and think out of the box, or catalog (or even the store).. The backdrop stand is just needed to hold the - backdrop. The picture won't see and won't care how you held the back drop up. American Ingenuity can and does work if one allows the mind a moment to fly alone...
